We have recently begun a new year and I’m sure that a lot of you have
decided to make this the year you get in shape or maybe in better
shape. I commend you for that decision. If you haven’t made that
decision you can make it today.
The last several articles have covered some different types of fitness
programs and how to stay motivated with your program, especially
through the tough months of winter. This month I would like to take
some time to talk about monitoring your heart rate when you exercise.
The old school thought was that the harder my heart beats for the
longest time that I can take it, the better. Recently however, fitness
science has found that to be far from true. That’s good news! When
you train at a maximum output for long periods of time, you are
over-training. When you over-train, you risk being excessively tired,
not being able to sleep well and injury to your body. There is now a
better and more efficient way to train by monitoring how hard your
heart is working during your workout.

With many people feeling the negative impact of the economy, it’s nice to know there is a food ministry with a servant’s heart in Hancock County.
This non-profit, non-denominational organization is dedicated to providing grocery relief by making available greatly discounted groceries sold in quantities that fit into a medium sized box for only $30 per box. Menu varies from month to month and consists of both fresh and frozen items valued at approximately $50-$70.

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 3, 2009) - State Sen. Marlin Stutzman (R-Howe) today unveiled a resolution urging the Obama administration to keep Guantanamo Bay’s terrorist inmates out of Indiana’s federal prison in Terre Haute and to keep Hoosiers safe.
Currently, Guantanamo Bay’s Detention Center holds non-citizens who are suspected of being involved with terrorism. President Obama recently issued an executive order to close Guantanamo Bay within a year, a decision that has left many speculating some of the 240 detainees could end up in Indiana’s federal prison in Terre Haute.

At best, that’s how Indiana Senate Republicans say any compromise on a national stimulus bill should be viewed.
Congress is reportedly working toward a mid-February deadline to hammer out differences between U.S. House and Senate versions, either of which could ship the Hoosier state billions for use by schools, state and local governments.

The Court of Appeals of Indiana began webcasting most oral arguments held in the Statehouse Court of Appeals courtroom.
The Court of Appeals has a long history of outreach to local communities through its traveling oral argument schedule in an effort to show communities the oral argument process. Webcasting oral arguments is another way the Court is reaching out to local communities.
“We hope to give the public another opportunity to learn about the issues confronting the Court of Appeals,” said Chief Judge John Baker. “Webcasting enhances our on-going out-reach program.”
The use of a television monitor and webcasting during oral arguments will be standard practice unless a majority of the 3-Judge panel hearing the argument determines not to do so. Those arguments will be televised on a television monitor outside the courtroom. A notice of the webcasting will be given to the parties at the time the argument is set.

On the internet, a social network is an online community for a group of people to share common interests and activities. It is also a place to explore the interests and activities of other persons. Social networks, like My Space and Face Book, have millions of users and have also become a popular place for teens to interact…..with or without their parents’ involvement. Given the widespread use of these services by teens, it is important for parents to understand the implications of their children participating in on-line social networking. We can not possibly watch over our children every moment, however, it is important to teach our children to be safe when it comes to social networking.
