Go Back to the Garden PDF Print E-mail

When God first created man, he put him in a garden full of luscious vegetation and fruit trees.  That garden held everything that was required to live and be healthy.  So, from the beginning, according to Genesis 1:29, man was to nourish his body with the vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts and grains provided in the garden by nature.

Biblical records show no reports of any sickness or disease of any kind as long as humans ate the foods in the garden.  Not only did these people live free from disease, but they also lived very long healthy lives.  Only after they began to eat foods outside of the garden did the Bible record cases of sickness and disease.

Throughout human history, man intuitively knew there was a connection between health and the food that we eat.  Four hundred and fifty years before Christ, Hippocrates – the physician known as “the father of medical literature”, wrote the following:

“He who does not know food, how can he understand the diseases of man.”

Even grandma had her natural remedies.  When I was a young boy, our grandma lived with us and we always had a garden; most of the neighbors also had gardens.  Grandma lived healthy and into her 90’s and always ate out of the garden.  In those days when most people had gardens, it was rare to hear that someone had cancer or diabetes.  While we would occasionally hear of older people with these diseases, we seldom heard of a young person with these diseases.  Also, fast food restaurants were almost non-existent.

Things have dramatically changed!  Now, young women have breast cancer and diabetes is almost epidemic among all ages.  The answer, contrary to what the pharmaceutical advertisements say, is not more and more drugs.  Drugs often create additional problems.  Instead, the answer is to get back to the garden so we can nourish our bodies.  The farther we get away from man’s original diet in Genesis 1:29, the more we will encounter degenerative diseases.

Back in the 1950’s, Max Gerson M.D. wrote in his book, A Cancer Therapy, “The coming years will make it more and more important that organically grown fruits and vegetables will be, and must be used for protection against degenerative diseases, the prevention of cancer and more so in the treatment of cancer.”   Modern researchers are coming to the same conclusion that the past generations knew all along – the more you eat from the garden the healthier you will be.

It is time to take back our health by eating the way our Creator originally designed us to eat.  We have two choices:

1.    God’s food
2.    Man’s food

If you, like most Americans, eat mostly meat, fast foods and processed foods, then your risk for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis and osteoporosis is extremely high.  In addition, you may find yourself being on medication for the rest of your life with a regular routine of visiting doctors and hospitals.  However, you can change your life’s course by getting back to the garden and eating a mostly plant based diet of foods in their natural unprocessed and uncooked state.  Then, you will be on your way to a healthy, energized and long life.
