Trees for Troops program will deliver Real Christmas Trees for the third consecutive year. Hillcrest Tree Farm is donating to the Indiana effort for the nationwide Trees for Troops program, sponsored by The Indiana Christmas Tree Growers’ Association, The Christmas Spirit Foundation and FedEx Corporation. In 2006, Indiana Fresh Christmas trees were delivered to Fort Drum in New York and the Navy 5th Fleet. Pictures of sailors from the USS Eisenhower decorating one of their trees was quite a sight!!! Many farms from across Indiana received heartwarming thank you’s from families and troops for bringing a little bit of home to them. The collection point and date for the Christmas Trees will be Dull’s Tree Farm in Thortown, Indiana on Wednesday November 28, 2007. FedEx will come to Dull’s Tree Farm and collect the trees and deliver them free of charge to our military and families. Trees for Troops in Indiana is a large and expensive program for members of the Indiana Christmas Tree Growers’ Association. We are very proud and excited to participate in the nationwide program. Afreshchristmastree.com , an internet based Christmas Tree Company and Kentwood Packaging, a box company, both based out of Grand Rapids and Kentwood, Michigan have very generously donated the shipping boxes needed for the Indiana program. Indiana is very happy to have these two companies on board and it is the largest donation for Indiana Trees for Troops. Without this donation, Indiana may not be able to ship the trees collected to the Navy 5th Fleet and Coast Guard.
